DAVID MOYES will battle the Special One to land Manchester United's second Van man.
Moyes would love to go double Dutch and partner midfielder Marco van Ginkel with his star striker Robin van Persie at Old Trafford next season.
But Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is in the driving seat with Van Ginkel's club Vitesse Arnhem having a link-up with the Stamford Bridge club.
That will not stop Moyes making his move as he gets out the United chequebook to splash up to £15million on the Dutch wonderkid.
United chief scout Jim Lawlor flew out to Israel to watch Van Ginkel play for Holland in the Under-21s European Championship.
And his dossier came back with a huge tick in the box that the player, who made his debut for Vitesse at 17, would fit well into a Red Devils shirt.
Van Ginkel, 20, is a playmaker with a huge future ahead of him after winning his first international cap against Germany in November 2012.
He made a huge impact in his domestic league last season, winning the Dutch Talent of the Year award with a host of impressive performances.
That put Dutch giants Ajax on full alert and they made Van Ginkel their No.1 target.
But after hearing Chelsea and United were interested Ajax have pulled out to leave the way clear for Van Ginkel to fulfil his dream of playing in the Premier League.
Ajax general manager Marc Overmars said: "We were very interested in Van Ginkel and were willing to go quite far.
"But if we have to compete with one of the big clubs from England it is always going to be difficult for us. We cannot beat Chelsea's resources."
Van Ginkel cannot wait to make a big impression in English football and the pulling power of fellow Dutchman Van Persie could swing a move to United.
He said: "I think every young player wants to play in the Premier League."
Van Ginkel will be just one of Moyes' targets as he starts to get used to splashing the kind of cash he could only dream about during his 11 years in charge at Everton
