Arsenal will have to fight off Barcelona if they are to sign target Jean-Michael Seri.
The Gunners have been chasing Seri, who has a £36m release clause in his current contract.
Arsene Wenger is a long term admirer of the Ivory Coast international - with Tottenham and Swansea also keeping tabs on him.
Barcelona, who have £198m sitting in the bank after selling Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain last week, had been keen on former Tottenham flop Paulinho before cooling their interest.
And have instead turned their attention to 26-year-old Seri, who helped Nice finish third in Ligue 1 last season.
