The Frenchman is looking to add to his attacking options during the current transfer window and has set his sights on bringing Liverpool’s Luis Suarez to the Emirates Stadium but has so far seen his two bids turned down.
Wenger has not given up hope of landing the 26-year-old and it is thought the Gunners boss is planning a third bid of £51 million for the Uruguay international. Liverpool, however, maintain the forward is not for sale.
The Arsenal manager has therefore been drafting a list of alternatives to Suarez should their attempts to sign the Liverpool man fail and Yilmaz, who netted 24 goals in 30 league games last season, is on that list.
The Turkey international, who scored eight times for Galatasaray in the Champions League last term, has also been linked with Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer.
Galatasaray president Unal Aysal has admitted the club would be willing to sell 28-year-old if their asking price, believed to be £20 million, was met by another side.
