Liverpool have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Valencia full-back Aly Cissokho
The Anfield side have beaten Sunderland in the pursuit of the 25 year old French international who would become Brendan Rodgers’ fifth signing of the summer.
Cissokho has been linked with Liverpool for some time and it appears that Rodgers has won the race to bring in the attack minded left-back, who can also play in more advanced wing-back position and will presumably challenge Spaniard Jose Enrique for the first team spot.
Rodgers can also call upon both Glen Johnson and Daniel Agger in this role but clearly the pair are better suited to their more common positions at right-back and centre-back respectively.
Valencia are once again having to offload their top performers in order to balance the books and having already seen Roberto Soldado leave for Tottenham the Mestalla outfit look likely to lose Cissokho.
The former Lyon man will hope that a high profile move can help re-ignite his chances of a return to the French national team set-up having thus far collected just one cap, way back in August 2010
