Arsenal have reportedly reached agreement with Bundesliga side Freiburg to sign young German defensive midfielder Matthias Ginter.
Arsene Wenger’s side will forked out £6.1m to snap up the teenager, who has been capped three times at Under 21 level.
Ginter is considered one of the hottest properties in German football and last term helped his side to secure a fifth place finish, with the rangy midfielder making 26 starts in all competitions.
Arsene Wenger could well do with adding some steel to his midfield, to help bring balance to a side that is jam packed with creative talent. The Gunners have not adequately replaced Alex Song, with Mikel Arteta being left to fill a makeshift holding role last term.
Clearly Ginter is very much one for the future but the Freiburg player has shown over the course of the past 18 months and he is able to make an instant impact in top tier football and if secured could well have a significant part to play in Arsenal’s first team set-up this season.
Wenger has enjoyed shopping in the Bundesliga in recent seasons bringing in full internationals like Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker as well as up and coming talents such as Serge Gnabry and Thomas Eisfeld
