Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Alexis Sanchez with Barcelona insisting the Chilean international is not for sale this summer, .
The 24-year-old moved to Barca from Udinese in 2011 and after an impressive debut season has struggled to live up to his past form and regularly found himself out of Tito Vilanova’s starting eleven last campaign, leading to question marks over his future.
Liverpool have both been linked with a move for the exciting attacker this summer with the duo understood to be keen on bringing him to the Premier League.
However, Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu claims the Catalans have no intention of selling Sanchez and insists he’s still firmly in their plans for next season.
“Alexis is not for sale. We trust in his ability. It has long been speculated that he may leave, but not since he arrived at the club have we received a proposal.
“He will continue with us. We are pleased with his performances and we will not make him available in the transfer market.”
