Arsenal are reportedly readying a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan
The Emirates Stadium side are set to table an offer for the 22 year old, who last term played a key role in helping his side to the Champions League final.
The German international midfielder is a tough tackler but is more renowned for his passing technique and is a player Arsene Wenger may feel can offer his Gunners side a new dimension in the centre of the park.
£25m which is perhaps a fair price for a player of Gundogan’s ability and potential.
For all Borussia Dortmund’s recent successes, Jurgen Klopp’s side winning two of the last three Bundesliga titles, the Westfalenstadion side seem to struggle to keep hold of their top talents. In recent seasons the likes of Nuri Sahin, Shinji Kagawa and Mario Gotze have left for Real Madrid, Man United and Bayern Munich respectively and as such one can not rule out a successful move for Gundogan who’s current contract comes to an end in the summer of 2015.
Whilst Arsenal have a number of creatively minded central midfielders with the likes of Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky to call upon, Gundogan is of a different type and can perhaps provide more balance to the North London club’s squad.
Gundogan has made 81 appearances in two seasons at Borussia Dortmund and is a regular in Joachim Low’s German national team set-up
