Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has sounded out Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta about what life is like in London and asked his advice on housing and schools in the capital.
The Uruguayan hitman has made clear his desire to leave Anfield this summer and has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates in recent weeks, with the Gunners said to be lining up a third bid having already had two offers rejected by Liverpool.
reports that the 26-year-old has informed boss Brendan Rodgers that he wants to make the switch to north London and has phoned Spanish speaking Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta to ask his advice on where he and his family should live in the capital and what schools would be available for his young daughter, Delfina.
If true, then this demonstrates how serious Suarez is about moving to Arsenal this summer but a move is still some way off with Liverpool remaining adamant that their striker is not for sale unless he’s willing to put in a written transfer request.
The former Ajax man is now ready to do so and his agent has given the Gunners enough encouragement that Arsene Wenger is now feeling increasingly confident he will make the controversial South American his record signing this summer.
It would certainly be a huge boost to Arsenal if they could pull off this major coup but until they manage to strike an agreement with Liverpool, the deal continues to be finely balanced and you wouldn’t bet against this one dragging out until the final days of the transfer window.
