Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is set to lock horns with his predecessor Jose Mourinho over Benfica midfielder Nemanja Matic.
The Special One plans to bolster his midfield before the start of the new season and Matic, who left Chelsea as part of the deal to bring David Luiz to west London in 2011, is one of his main targets.
Ancelotti was actually in charge at Stamford Bridge at the time the Serbian left and he is now keen to reunite with the 24-year-old at the Bernabeu.
Real are favourites to land the former Kosice man due to deals, such as those involving Ezequiel Garay and Fabio Coentrao, that they have conducted with Benfica in recent seasons.
But Chelsea also have a good relationship with the Lisbon side after signing Luiz and fellow Brazilian Ramires from them.
However, both Chelsea and Real will have to play hardball with Benfica as the Portuguese side are demanding a fee in the region of £45m for Matic
