Monaco lead the race for midfielder’s signature.
Premier League duo Arsenal and Everton could be set to miss out on landing Toulouse star Etienne Capoue as big spenders Monaco look to hijack the deal.
The Gunners have been monitoring the 24-year-old for sometime whilst the Merseyside club have also been credited with an interest, however it now looks as though the defensive midfielder could be gearing up for an extended stay in his home country.
Toulouse coach Alain Casanova had been hoping to fend off interest in the French international by saying: ”I am going to be selfish and say I wish he could stay and remain with us.
“If he does leave, we would wish him good luck after everything he has given us.”
However, his eight year association with the club now looks set to end with his representative, Mino Raiola, brokering a £13 million deal to bring Capoue to the principality.
Monaco have also jumped ahead of Ligue 1 rivals PSG in the race for his signature as he is reportedly attracted to the project that billionaire owner Dmitry Rybolovlev is hoping to put into action next season.
Capoue made 38 appearances for Toulouse last season, scoring seven goals
